Up until this year all inground pools were required to have a pool fence. Studies have shown that a pool fence is only 19% more effective at preventing accidental injury or drowning than having no fence at all. Technological advances in pool safety created Power Safety Covers (PSCs). When properly used, they are not only 100% effective in preventing injury or drowning, they also save energy, chemicals, protect wildlife, and add to the aesthetics of the property. As chairman of the Public Welfare Committee I brought PSCs to the Common Council for approval. PSCs are now an alternative to fences.
As a new homeowner in Alderman Gierl’s district who needed support, I was very impressed by his responsiveness and resolve to help me navigate a pool ordinance issue that I was unaware of when I purchased my home. His determination in the face of some significant head winds made it possible for the City of Mequon to pass good common-sense legislation that was not only reasonable but cost effective. There is no doubt that Alderman Gierl helped me and for that matter all Mequon residents save money and hassle. He is a great representative who I found to be very trustworthy. He is passionate about our community and wants to continue to support us. I am thankful to have someone like him fighting for us. Brian M
